WFLD eliminates seven off-air jobs

Seven full-time off-air positions were eliminated today at Fox-owned WFLD-Ch. 32.

The latest cuts claimed an assignment desk editor, a special projects producer, a news writer, a Web producer, a financial credit manager, an engineering manager and a unit business manager.

These reductions have become almost commonplace in what has been an extraordinarily difficult transitional period for the broadcast and print media businesses, both locally and nationally, as already splintering revenue has been further diminished by the tough economy.

All outlets have had to undertake similar measures to reduce overhead and better manage resources because of conditions lately.
