Nobody mentioned this on the board yet, so I'll try to explain.

'Flashback' is gone. This format was a mix of Disco / R&B Oldies / 70's and 80's Top 40 Oldies. This was similar to how WILV sounded a few years ago. I think KC & the Sunshine Band and the Bee Gees were the most played groups. I also heard 'Play That Funky Music' by Wild Cherry alot. They also played 'Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting' by Elton John. Some soucres (like the HD website) said the format was 'Disco', but that was wrong. This station never sounded like the old WDAI, which was Disco.

Now the station is calling itself 'Chicago's Classic Lite 93.9 HD2'. It seems to be a mix of Classic Hits and Adult Contemporary Oldies (from the 70's and 80's). I have not heard anything too heavy, but they do play singles from rock groups like Boston (Long Time) and Blue Oyster Cult (Don't Fear the Reaper). Unlike most HD2 music stations which are jockless, the station now has voicetracked DJ's.

I believe this is the 3rd format for WLIT-HD2. Prior to 'Flashback', the station was a simulcast of 'Real Oldies' AM 1690 WRLL Berwyn/Chicago. At the time, HD radios cost several hundred dollars.
