WVON ALERTS CHATHAM COMMUNITY OF ROBBERIES NEAR METRA STATION
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 5, 2009
CHICAGO... The hosts of WVON Radio have taken the lead in alerting the Chatham community about a series of robberies near the Metra station, 87th & Dauphin, which is in proximity to WVON's Headquarters, 1000 East 87th Street.
Spearheaded by morning-drive team, Matt McGill and Perri Small, hosts of The Matt & Perri Show (airs M-F, 6a-9a), WVON dedicated a majority of its Wednesday programming to informing the audience about the robberies as well as discussing the impact of police and community involvement when it comes to public safety.
"As a media outlet and a business in this community, we feel it is our responsibility to bring awareness to issues of serious crime when it occurs in our own backyard for the safety of our neighbors and our employees," stated Todd Ronckowski, WVON's programming consultant.
