Richard Gamble named publisher of Chicago magazine

Richard Gamble has been appointed publisher of Chicago magazine and Chicago Home + Garden, both part of the Tribune Co.'s Chicago Tribune Media Group.

Ted Biedron, who is president of the group's Chicagoland Publishing Co., has been interim publisher since Randy Hano's exit last summer to become publisher of Boston magazine.

Gamble has been with Tribune Co. since 1997, serving as director of packaging at Freedom Center, working in business development and serving as general manager of Exito, a forerunner of Hoy, the company's Spanish-language daily newspaper. He has been in the magazine division since Tribune Co. acquired Chicago seven years ago for $35 million. Most recently, he has served as vice president of operations.

"Rich is the perfect choice to take charge of the magazine as we navigate through challenging times," Biedron said in a statement. "He has broad experience over many years and knows the business and the people very well."

A lifelong Chicago-area resident, Gamble has an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and a graduate degree from Northwestern University's Kellogg School.
