"Melissa Forman out at WLIT-FM -- again
Melissa Forman is out once again as morning personality at Clear Channel's WLIT-FM 93.9.
A replacement was not named immediately, and The Lite looked to go heavily with music until Forman's successor is in place in a week or two.
"This is not about Melissa," Earl Jones, president and market manager of Clear Channel Radio/Chicago, said Thursday. "She's done everything we've asked her to do."
WLIT is in 13th place in its targeted demographic of listeners age 25 to 54, despite the morning daypart ranking 20th, indicating a need to go in a different direction.
Rival CBS Radio's WCFS-FM 105.9 has seemed to tweak its playlist of late. Since last month's arrival of veteran Bill Gamble as program director, Fresh 105.9 seems to be aiming squarely at Bonneville International's WTMX-FM 101.9, which is paced by its market-leading morning show in the 25-54 demo, hosted by Eric Ferguson and Kathy Hart.
This was Forman's second morning run at WLIT. She was in the slot from 2001 until bounced in 2006 for Whoopi Goldberg's syndicated morning program. Then she returned 14 months later after Goldberg's program didn't pan out. For a time, Forman hosted mornings live and in the afternoons on tape.
