: : Word on the street is that Carol Williams, director of operations for Chicago for Westwood One's Shadow/Metro Traffic has been fired.
: Sorry to disappoint all of you, but she wasn't fired. She wasn't asked to leave either. Yes, many are happy, but the actual "rumor" is that we will have to start referring to her as Dr. Carol Williams.
Hades, you're deluded. There are many reasons why people "quit." Sometimes they are asked to leave. Sometimes they are presented with a "quit or we'll fire you" option.
This is likely what happened in Carol's case, because everyone in town knew she was a terrible manager; several clients were ready to pull their business and Carol's big boss came in today for an emergency meeting. Several staffers say that she was "crying and shaking" before she left - that hardly sounds like a voluntary resignation.
I refuse to believe that she will be earning a doctorate from a legitimate university.
Also, Kevin Scott, who will now be the company's regional manager, is completely unqualified for his position. His primary work experience before Shadow was bankrupting two hot dog stands. He worked for Metro Networks in the late 1990's, and was fired for his general incompetence. He owes his job to his friendship with Carol's predecessor, Rick Sirovatka. Rick surrounded himself with yes-men and women who were grossly unqualified, like Mark Napoleon, Perry Williams and Wendy Goldman.
There are a few people left there who are liked by their remaining clients, and thus have to stay; the rest are inexperienced kids.
I'm sorry the truth hurts so much.
