Sun-Times president, COO nominated to industry board

Rick Surkamer, president and chief operating officer of Sun-Times Media Group, has been nominated to the board of directors of the Suburban Newspapers of America.

The group's membership will vote on his nomination next month. His nomination has been endorsed by the board.

Surkamer, 56, has served as COO of The Sun-Times News Group since September 2007.

He was named president in February.

Sun-Times Media Group is the parent company of the Chicago Sun-Times.
