So I get a call on one of my personal work lines and I can hear that it is one of those annoying robo-calls. So I give it a moment to kick in before I violently hang up the phone and lo and behold, it is none other than WLIT's last remaining local personality, Robin Rock! So instead of hanging up, I gave her a listen. Robin's pre-recorded voice goes on to tell me how WLIT wants to pay MY bills! The recording then begs me to listen all throughout the workday for four chances to hear my name. If I do, I need to call WLIT and they will then pay MY bills! (It really emphasized that they wanted to pay "YOUR" bills.) The recording later tells me that they are only paying $1,000. Sorry, but $1,000 is nice, but no way does it pay MY bills. If WLIT wants to pay MY bills, that number will need to go waaaaay up.

Now I like Robin Rock and she has a pleasant enough voice, but I really don't need to hear her recordings on my phone line while I am trying to get work done. I guess Clear Channel even voice tracks their phone calls now. Oddly enough, the call came about 15 minutes after I just read the Chicago Tribune article about robo-calls being outlawed in the US.

The only thing the call really did was to make me think about WLIT for a brief moment and the fact that I missed Sean Valentine's first syndicated Chicago radio show this morning. Oh well. My life still goes on. I have a feeling that about 99% of Chicago forgot to listen in, too. Gee... Maybe I can get a recorded call from Sean tomorrow....
