There has been a format flip and an important change to a pair of far south-suburban radio stations today. Both of the stations are owned by STARadio, which owns a handful of IL radio stations, all well south of Chicago.

First, the format flip: WYKT-FM, which has been a Top 40/CHR station out of Wilmington known as "My 105.5," is now playing classic rock and is known as "Kat 105.5." This isn't the first time that this kitty has come to play on that frequency, as it was called "The Kat" a few years ago, too. The DJ roster stays basically the same, with Tomano & Touhy doing their morning show. They have added a nighttime jock who goes by the name of "X" (or you can just call him Sean). The biggest & best addition is on weekends, as the Kat has added James D. Jones' Magical Mystery Tour on Sunday mornings from 9:00am-11:00am. (He was previously working at a couple of stations in Bourbonnais, doing the same Beatles-centric program.) So now, instead of playing the newer Taylor Swift or Black Eyed Peas songs, the DJs can play older Lynyrd Syknyrd or Blue Oyster Cult tracks.

The other change this morning happened at Kankakee's WKAN-AM. Tomano & Touhy were also the morning show at that AM talk station, simulcasting with WYKT-FM. As of today, they are off WKAN and are only at The Kat. WKAN is now going with a more news-oriented morning show with Bill Yohnka & Ron Jackson from 6:00am-8:00am. Ron Jackson flies solo from 8:00am-9:00am and then the rest of the day is basically all conservative syndicated talkers with some local news & agricultural breaks slipped in.

So who had 105.5 in the office pool as the next frequency to flip?
