: TV | In local news war battle, WBBM, WMAQ eye WLS throne
Huh...wah?!!! WMAQ lets slip away two marquee co-anchors in whom they invested serious time brand-building (first Suppelsa, then Sirott) and they back away from one of the brightest rising stars in the market (Davlantes); and they've turned it over to Stafford who is a second-stringer at best. They've had two-tenths of a point hiccup in a positive direction, and...but wait...
WBBM d-o-w-n-s-i-z-e-s their 10 p.m. newscast by paring away their best hire in at least five years, this after at least three years of jettisoning solid veterans (Childress, for example).
And somehow Loony Lazare thinks they're eyeing the throne? Puh-leeze. What is this guy smoking? The only throne MAQ and BBM are eyeing is behind a door with a plaque that reads. "Men's."
When Anna Davlantes shows up in the WLS mix, look out. (And yes, that's pure speculation on my part. Just a guess).
