CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Governor Pat Quinn has signed a proclamation congratulating WBBM's own Felicia Middlebrooks for 25-years co-anchoring the morning news on Newsradio 780.
Gov. Quinn says he was happy to sign the proclamation.
"Felicia has been a special person. I think to anybody's who's ever listened to her voice, to her sincerity, commitment to accuracy, and also a commitment to the community. She's very active in a number of charitable causes and I know one thing that has really impressed me all these years, these 25 years, is she's a mentor to a lot of young people who want to learn about the media, to learn about covering the news. Felicia Middlebrooks is really a statewide treasure and a national treasure and I really congratulate her on her 25 years as a morning co-host of a major station in America," Quinn said.
The governor also praised Middlebrooks for her longevity in an industry not usually known for it.
"Here today and gone tomorrow. One day a peacock and the next day a feather duster, but that is not true of Felicia Middlebrooks. She has that kind of stability and understanding of the community. She's a person of faith. I think if anybody has listened to her over these 25 years as I have, she has a deep and abiding faith and a belief in helping her neighbor and service to others and I think that's really special. We need to have individuals who cover the news who... tell us about the world around us but at the same time always give us I think that we'll get through this day and many days to come," Quinn said.
