Judson Beck out as WFLD, WPWR sales chief
WFLD-Ch. 32 and WPWR-Ch. 50 sales chief Judson Beck's contract has not been renewed, a spokeswoman for Chicago's News Corp.-owned duopoly confirmed Tuesday.
Separately, WFLD and WPWR eliminated eight union technical positions, as of Friday.
Until a successor is found for Beck, sales for the local Fox and My Network outlets will be overseen by recently installed vice president and general manager Mike Renda, who replaced Pat Mullen last month.
Beck had been vice president and general sales manager of the two stations since 2004. He previously was vice president and regional manager for Fox Station Sales, having opened the Chicago office in June 2001.
The other WFLD-WPWR cuts, just the latest response to the tough economic realities within the media business, is the second round of cuts in recent months for employees represented by the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians, or NABET. A union courier and 11 union technicians and a union courier were released this summer.
