Bruce Wolf, the former radio host & TV sportscaster, will be working on WSCR-AM this Sunday morning. To announce this momentous event, he wrote a very tongue-in-cheek blog on his Blogshakalaka site:

Only black tv news sportscaster in Chicago history to do fill-in work on the SCORE 9-noon Sunday

Bruce Wolf, the only black sportscaster in Chicago tv news history, will fill in on the SCORE (670AM) with Mark Grote from 9 to noon Sunday. There is no Bears game until 3:15 p.m., so there is no worry that Wolf will taint the Bears mystique by being close to the station's pre- and post-game coverage.
"By black, I mean it metaphorically," said Toni Morrison, who won the Nobel prize for literature in 1993. "I mean it kind of like I meant it for Bill Clinton, although everyone misunderstood it when I said it about him," she said.
Morrison explained that Wolf is the only tv news sportscaster with any soul. "The rest are vanilla. Especially the black ones. But that's understandable. They've always had to prove that they can do it like the white man, so they've overcompensated.
"Poor Jim Rose. I think they even had a white guy (Pete Bordwell) writing his scripts for years and years. That's no way to treat a man," Morrison said.
Morrison added that Wolf is not the only black sportscaster in Chicago. "Oh, just about everyone on sports radio is. Ed O'Bradovich and Doug Buffone are. They set your soul on fire. They're even yelling at the Bears after they win by 24 points, like in the Detroit game."
Morrison added that when Wolf does tv sports and shuffles his scripts to the sports theme music "it is self-conscious and geeky, but at least he's trying."
Wolf had no comment. Sources said he is hoping that NBC5's Mike Adamle, who at age 60 just completed the Ironman Triathlon (2.4 miles swimming, 112 miles biking, 26.2 miles running), will try a lesser feat and become the first man to give birth to a baby, which would give Wolf some fill-in work.
