Roz Varon to host breast cancer special on WLS-Channel 7

Roz Varon, ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7 traffic/transportation anchor and a three-year breast cancer survivor, hosts "Faces of Strength," a special about breast cancer survivors, that airs Thursday at 10:35 p.m. on Channel 7. Among the breast cancer survivors who will share their stories on the show are Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell and Susan Axelrod, president of Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy and wife of David Axelrod, advisor to President Barack Obama. Lloyd Gordon, an 80-year-old restaurant consultant. will talk about the stigma he faced as a man with breast cancer.
Varon was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in the summer of 2006, and during the WLS special cameras show her experiences with targeted-therapy treatment and CT scans that are now routine for her. Holly Grisham and Varon are the producers of "Faces of Strength."
