Leno's future not-so certain

Everyone at WMAQ-Channel 5 continues to wait and wonder when parent NBC will finally pull the plug on Jay Leno's disastrous prime time talk fest, which has been wreaking havoc with the lead-in ratings to the station's 10 p.m. news.

There are no signs Leno's show, mostly a rehash of his old late night format, is going to turn into the kind of ratings blockbuster. The best guess from WMAQ insiders is that NBC will use its two-week-plus 2010 Winter Olympics hiatus from regular prime time programming to deal with Leno.

Of course, NBC first has to find a replacement show that has a chance of improving on Leno's weak prime time performance.
