I spoke to Bob's wife Paula today. She's doing okay, but still stunned. I won't go over all the details, but as initial reports mentioned, he died from a complication related the the cancer he'd been fighting. Essentially it was pneumonia.
There will be no funeral, as Bob requested that he be cremated. Paula asked if anyone was interested, that in lieu of flowers or anything like that, people donate to Bob's favourite charity: the Heifer Foundation. I"m in the process of setting this up with them and will have more details shortly.
The other news is that there WILL be a memorial in Chicago, but not until springtime. As Paula said, I'll bring Bill home to Chicago, but not until the weather breaks." I've set up a Facebook fan page where I'll keep people posted, in addition to here. The page is called "A Celebration of Bubba." I ask that anyone with pictures and/or audio email me so I can get them put on the page. Sadly I only have the pic from his Linked In profile. It's the one everyone has already seen.
