The "Voice" of FoxRock Communications is Silenced
Chicago, IL, December 14, 2009 -- It is with extreme sadness that we report that "The Voice" of FoxRock Communications, Bob Dayton, passed away Saturday morning, December 12, 2009 after a long illness.
FoxRock Communications President Matt Smith commented, "I'm heartbroken that we've lost Bob. At the same time, I'm relieved that he's no longer in any pain. Bubba was a mentor to me in the radio business, and a true friend. I missed him when we couldn't talk everyday, and I miss him even more now."
Bob Dayton's role in FoxRock Communications was that of mentor to up and coming voice talent, a job that Bob handled better than anyone else.
Bob Dayton, whose real name was Bill Harper, known in Chicago radio circles as Bubba, enjoyed an illustrious radio career that included stops in Minneapolis, Memphis, and Denver, but is known in Chicago in a variety of roles at stations WJJD, WMAQ, WSCR and WGN. Bob moved to Baltimore to be with family, and scored a weekend show on WPOC FM. Earlier this year Bob moved again, this time to Phoenix, AZ where he passed away from complications related to cancer.
Bob is survived by his wife Paula, two children and grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending. A memorial in the Chicago area is being planned to take place after the holidays. Details can be found on the FoxRock Communications website.
Bob's listing on the FoxRock Communications website contains audio of some of his great work. Bob's audio will remain on the website so that his great talent can still be enjoyed.
