'Call Northside 777' on radio

* * One of the best newspaper movies ever made was "Call Northside 777," the 1948 classic filmed in Chicago and starring James Stewart.

As part of its four-week salute to Stewart (marking what would have been his 100th birthday), "Those Were the Days" is airing the 1949 radio version of the movie this weekend. It also stars Stewart as crusading Chicago Times reporter P.J. McNeal.

Chuck Schaden hosts the old-time radio showcase from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays on the College of DuPage's WDCB-FM (90.9).
