Ron Magers won’t be dropping by the Roe Conn afternoon show on WLS, Chicago (890) any longer, thanks to a Citadel decision that ends a nearly 12-year run for the respected TV news anchor. He’s been accustomed to spending part of the 3pm hour chewing over the news with Conn. Vocalo.org’s Robert Feder says Citadel presented the news as a fait accompli to Magers, who says “When the coffee machine disappeared from the kitchen, I had a feeling my contract wouldn’t be renewed.” Feder says the Conn-Magers byplay “often was the best half-hour of conversation in all of Chicago radio.” But WLS plans to bring Cisco Cotto back from WIND (560) to co-host with Conn, and it figures it doesn’t need Ron Magers in the equation.
