In their latest newsletter today, WGN asked many of their on-air staffers to talk about their 2010 resolutions. Some are pretty funny (especially Garry Meier's & Bill Leff's). The following comes from that newsletter this evening:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy New Year from all of us here at WGN Radio! In the midst of the holidays, the hosts at WGN Radio decided to take some time for self-reflection and give you their resolutions for the New Year. From our radio-family to yours, have a safe, happy, and healthy 2010!
John Williams:
"I'm going to tend better to my health and grammar. I will try to listen better. I need to read more books - from cover to cover, not just skimming. I am going to go to more of Mark Bazer's Interview Shows and I am going to launch a social media website that will be larger than Facebook and Google, combined. I am also going to cut back on the hallucinogenics."
(To hear more about John listen weekdays from 9:00 a.m.-12 p.m.)
Garry Meier:
"To get slot machines on all trains and buses and let passengers ride free. And to invent a smoking hood that people could wear so they can smoke inside and the smoke is absorbed by the hood."
(Listen to Garry weekdays from 1-4 p.m.)
Steve Cochran:
"In 2010 I will ... find out what planet Rod Blagojevich is really from, restage 'The Odd Couple' with Garry Meier and me - guess which one of us is Oscar? Keep an eye on the 'net until I find me a sweet used Zamboni, change my number again because Kim Kardashian is still calling me, try not to throw a brick through my TV before the Primaries commercials end ... and ... listen to every Blackhawks game on my favorite radio station all the way to the Stanley Cup."
(Steve can be heard weekdays from 4-7 p.m.)
David Kaplan:
Kap's resolutions include eating less, working out more, and getting his golf handicap under 6. Most importantly, he is hoping for peace on earth.
(Listen to Kap on Sports Central, weekdays from 7-9 p.m.)
Bob Sirott:
"I resolve to exercise less, eat more hot dogs, and procrastinate as much as possible. I'm making resolutions I'm sure to keep."
(Listen to Bob on the Noon Show weekdays from 12-1 p.m. and on the Sunday Night Radio Special Sundays from 10-11 p.m.)
Steve King and Johnnie Putman:
Steve and Johnnie's resolutions include learning CPR, making a visit to Branson, Missouri and continuing to have a great time on the radio!
(Steve and Johnnie can be heard Monday mornings from 2-5 a.m. and Monday-Thursday nights from 11 p.m. -5 a.m.)
Bill Leff:
"I resolve to stop lending people money. Last year I lent a friend, (Steve Cochran) $4,600, but now whenever I bring it up to him, he says he doesn't remember."
(Listen to Bill host ChicagoNow Radio Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.)
Simon Badinter:
"To convince all my listeners to start saying 'Je t'aime' to their loved one."
(Listen to the Simon Rendezvous on Sundays from 6-9 p.m.)
Jim Laski:
"To cut back on my barrage of junk food on weeknights."
(Jim in a part-time fill-in host.)
