Sentencing slated for DJ who solicited Carol Stream boy

A former Chicago radio DJ is scheduled to be sentenced this afternoon for admitting he solicited a 13-year-old Carol Stream boy for sex after meeting the child online.
Michael D. Wawrzyniak, 25, who went by the moniker "Radio Boy," could face up to five years in prison if a DuPage County judge sentences him to the maximum. He could also receive probation. Either way, he also will have to register as a sex offender for 10 years. He did not have a prior criminal record.
The former part-time weekend DJ at 103.5 KISS-FM first began chatting with the boy in 2007. Prosecutors said the two had sexual contact once after meeting near the boy's home. The boy's parents soon learned of it alerted police. Carol Stream detectives used the boy's password and screen name to arrange another rendezvous with Wawrzyniak.
Upon his arrest, Wawrzyniak told police the boy had lied about his age and claimed to be 18. But he also admitted during online chats with undercover officers that he could tell the boy was a minor.
Wawrzyniak pleaded guilty to felony indecent solicitation charges in August. Despite the plea, prosecutors and defense lawyers couldn't agree on punishment at the time.
