WGN-AM has hired a new Creative Services Manager: Chris Duffy, a 24 year radio veteran. His main duties will include the station's imaging and "optimizing the listener experience" (as WGN is calling it). He starts in his new position immediately.
Chris Duffy has not worked in the Chicago market before. So what is his connection to WGN? It may have a bit to do with his years working for Jacor (later Clear Channel) in Cleveland. Yes, the very same Jacor that most of the new management at the Tribune Company worked for, including Kevin Metheny, WGN's Program Director and Randy Michaels, the Trib's CEO. Duffy is a Michigan native, but has worked at & for radio stations all across the country including five years at Cleveland's WTAM, Boston's WVBF, Dallas' KDMX & KEGL, WLDI & WOLL in West Palm Beach, and most recently, WFTL in Ft. Lauderdale. He's been the voice of commercials for Disney, GM, Coca Cola and Steak-umms.
When asked about coming to work in Chicago, Chris Duffy had this to say, "I'm stoked to be joining the crew at the legendary WGN, a team focused on creating top shelf content designed to win. Plus, I haven't shivered uncontrollably in wind chills for nearly a decade."
