Clear Channel Radio runs six different radio stations here in Chicago: WLIT, WNUA, WVAZ, WKSC, WGCI and WGRB.* As of today, the morning show hosts of those stations have somebody new watching over their shoulders.
Over the weekend, Detroit newspapers were all abuzz about Jay Towers leaving his CBS Radio morning show at WXYT-FM. The rumors were that he was going to a rival Clear Channel radio station. The rumors were close, but it's not a radio station he's going to. It's the entire Clear Channel company. Effective as of today, Jay Towers is the new head Programming/Talent Consultant for the company. Tom Poleman, Senior Vice President of Programming for Clear Channel Radio made the announcement today about Jay Towers. Towers will monitor and work with all of Clear Channel's morning show talent by developing and refining morning show systems and talent coaching tools. He will report his findings directly to Tom Poleman.
In addition to his new radio duties with Clear Channel, Jay Towers is also an anchorman for the Fox2 News weekend television newscasts in Detroit, MI.
(*= Clear Channel also owns WVON-AM 1690, but does not operate it. The frequency is rented out to Midway's WVON)
