Jen Patterson to remain with Comcast SportsNet even as 'Monsters' move on
The "Monsters" are moving on, but Jen Patterson is staying put.
Jen Patterson, a radio, Internet and TV producer for sports-talk host Mike North who got on-camera exposure through weather, traffic and highlights segments on his short-lived Comcast SportsNet Chicago program, is sticking with the cable channel even as North and co-host Dan Jiggetts prepare to launch a new show on CBS-owned WBBM-Ch. 2.
Patterson, it was announced Wednesday, will do some on-camera work in addition to producing feature segments and coordinating guest booking for various Comcast SportsNet programs.
“Jen has proven herself to be a rising on-air and off-air TV talent in our city and we’re thrilled she’ll be with us to lend her expertise to our newsroom,” Charlie Schumacher, CSN Chicago's senior news director, said in a statement.
Before serving as associate producer of "Monsters in the Morning" during its 2009 run, Patterson rose from intern to executive producer over four years with the “The Mike North Morning Show” on CBS-owned WSCR-AM 670, giving weather and news reports. She also was a stage manager for Fox Broadcasting's Saturday baseball coverage.
A 2005 graduate of Columbia College who grew up in north suburban Libertyville, Patterson was Comcast SportsNet's first intern.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue to build a strong relationship with Comcast SportsNet,” Patterson said in the announcement.
North, Jiggetts, Chicago Sun-Times finance columnist Terry Savage and former CNBC correspondent Mike Hegedus are set to team on WBBM's "Monsters and Money in the Morning," a 5 to 7 a.m. weekday roundtable program scheduled to make its debut on Feb. 1.
Comcast SportsNet Chicago is owned by Comcast, as well as the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bulls.
