Chicago Tribune parent Tribune Co.'s Chicagoland Television is expanding its reach -- and in some ways its definition of Chicagoland -- with Comcast moving to pipe CLTV into the Rockford area and South Bend, Ind., area.
Comcast Digital Cable customers in the Rockford area, including Belvidere and Freeport, can find CLTV on channel 10. It's on channel 53 for Comcast Digital Cable customers in the South Bend area, including Rochester and Warsaw.
"Chicagoland stories remain our focus, but the expansion of our viewing area allows us to look for broader regional stories," Steve Farber, CLTV's general manager, explained by e-mail. "Political coverage is one area where we know viewers are looking for additional content, particularly during an election season. We also view enhanced broader weather coverage as a key way to serve viewers in these communities."
