CBS Radio News To Simulcast 'Stand Up To Cancer'
CBS RADIO NEWS will simulcast the SEPTEMBER 5th "STAND UP TO CANCER" special that will simultaneously air on the ABC, CBS, and NBC TV networks 8-9p ET. Affiliates of CBS RADIO NEWS will be offered the live star-studded commercial-free hour, hosted by mIE COURIC, CHARLES GIBSON, and BRIAN WILLIAMS; CBS is the only radio network scheduled to feed the show to radio affiliates.
"CBS RADIO NEWS is honored to simulcast this significant event. Radio has always been a medium that gives back to the community and we hope that by airing this program we'll help to play a role in the continuing effort to fight cancer," said CBS RADIO NEWS VP HARVEY NAGLER.
The show is aimed at raising funds and awareness for the fight against cancer through the ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY FOUNDATION. Scheduled to make appearances are actors JENNIFER ANISTON, JOSH BROLIN, JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS, KIRSTEN DUNST, AMERICA FERRERA, SALLY FIELD, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS, SALMA HAYEK, SCARLETT JOHANSSON, MERYL STREEP, HILARY SWANK, CHARLIZE THERON, and FOREST WHITAKER, among many others. CHRISTINA APPLEGATE, whose breast cancer diagnosis and double mastectomy made headlines this month, is confirmed to appear, as well as ELIZABETH EDWARDS, wife of embattled former Sen. JOHN EDWARDS (D-NC) and whose cancer battle played a large role in her husband's candidacy as well as the controversy over his admitted affair. Cancer survivors LANCE ARMSTRONG, ROBIN ROBERTS, and FRAN DRESCHER will be on the show, along with racing's DANICA PATRICK and AMERICAN IDOL DAVID COOK.
