On Monday (Sept. 8), Clear Channel Radio and navigation products manufacturer Navigon will announce a multi-year agreement extending Navigon's use of Clear Channel Radio's Total Traffic Network (CCTTN). The CCTTN, which has 500,000 paid subscribers and reaches over 95 North American markets, provides real-time traffic data to a broad range of Navigon's personal navigation devices.
In August, Navigon began making CCTTN's traffic data available to consumers as a free lifetime subscription in many of its products, including the new 7200T and 2200T devices. The company also offers traffic updates for free as a built-in feature that does not require additional hardware or a subscription.
"Navigon was the pioneer in bringing free real-time traffic service to the portable navigation category and now takes this commitment to a new level by offering free real-time traffic on a full range of products, including a genuine entry-level GPS navigator," said Clear Channel Radio CEO John Hogan. "Their unwavering commitment to providing drivers with the best tools to navigate commutes and trips is unmatched and the reason why they have grown so quickly."
