WCPT/Chicago Gets FM Simulcasts
CHICAGO -- October 17, 2008: Beginning Monday, NewsWeb will be simulcasting progressive Talk WCPT-AM/Chicago on the company's Chicago-area WKIE-FM, WDEK-FM, and WRZA-FM, displacing the Adult Hits "9 FM" programming that has been airing on the three stations.
WCPT is a daytimer, so its programming will run from sunrise to sunset on the three FMs. When WCPT signs off, progressive programming will continue on the FMs until 9 p.m., when Dance Factory, from the 9 FM lineup, will take over until 5 a.m. The stations' weekday lineup includes Bill Press, Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, and Ron Reagan.
The move extends the reach of WCPT's programming to northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, and Northwest Indiana.
"Breakout stars like Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz and Stephanie Miller illustrate the enthusiasm that exists for the progressive Talk radio format," NewsWeb VP/Group Station Manager Harvey Wells said. "We're thrilled to be able to offer even more outstanding programming to the Chicago area."
