WGN-TV to expand Election Night coverage

WGN-Ch. 9 has reversed an earlier decision and will pre-empt its CW prime-time schedule in favor of beginning its Election Night coverage at 7 p.m., two hours earlier than first planned. Mark Suppelsa will co-anchor with Micah Materre, who's filling in for Allison Payne.

Cable's WGN America will simulcast WGN's coverage on Election Night, also beginning at 7 p.m.

In Chicago, Channel 9 also plans to begin its morning newscast on Wednesday at 4:30 a.m., a half-hour early.
