Chicago digital TV test planned
Chicago's television stations plan a test next week so area viewers can see whether their sets are prepared for the digital conversion in February.
On Nov. 12, between 6:53 a.m. and 6:58 a.m. and between 5:23 p.m. and 5:28 p.m., viewers who tune in local broadcast stations will be able to see whether the set they are watching is properly hooked up to pick up digital transmissions.
Those watching sets receiving only the analog signal that will be discontinued by government order on Feb. 17 will receive instructions on what's needed to prepare for the switchover. Those watching sets receiving their signals from digital tuners, converters, cable or satellite boxes that has them receiving digital transmissions will have that status confirmed.
For more information on the digital switch and how to prepare for it, go to www.dtv.gov.
