Chicago DTV test scores are in
Last week's Chicago digital TV test generated more than 13,400 hotline calls from viewers recognizing they had a problem they must reconcile before stations cut off analog signals in February, according to figures provided by the Illinois Broadcasters Association.
More than 2,600 of those calls to the hotline actually were received before Wednesday's five-minute morning and afternoon tests began, probably because the special toll-free number associated with the test appeared in market-wide on-air promos that began to air five days earlier.
All told, 79 percent of the calls came from Cook County and 14 percent were from Spanish-language viewers. Seventy-one percent of the calls wanted information concerning how to acquire the discount coupon for a digital converter box.
The 60623 ZIP code on Chicago's West Side generated the most calls in the market, both among viewers who rely on antennas and those who have cable.
