I had the absolute pleasure of hiring Freak at WRXQ. At first, it was just for part time nights and I felt like I was insulting Freak for offering him that job. After Lonny Tyler got a "real" job we moved him right into the afternoon slot.

I loved Freak's passion. He was the best communicator in the rock biz. He loved the music, loved the area, and loved his listeners.

After I left the station for North Carolina, the entire landscape of Next Media changed all over the country. After Steve Davis left, Harve Allen did his absolute best to kill every station that NM owned. I was surprised that Freak lasted through his reign of terror (because Freak has a brain and thinks for himself).

Freak was WRXQ, in my eyes. I wish I could have stayed there with him...as in Freak's own words he wasn't a PD type. We worked very well as a team and regretted leaving that station for a long time.

Now Freak and I are in the same boat. On the ol "Next Media Blacklist". Its a shame for Freak but I know him, and he'll end up just fine.

I have never been happier being out of radio and never plan to return. Perhaps my friend Freak will do the same, and i hope he does.

Here is to the BEST Rock Jock in the country
