This is pretty darn sad, I lived on the south side of Chicago and picked this station up some years back and discovered it by accident. Years later I moved to the southwest suburbs and picked the station up better by home. On occasion when I would be in the Chicago heights area I would put on this station and it was great to hear it clearly with a great 50s 60s oldies format on AM along with local community announcements and advertisements for local businesses, it sounded like old time radio. It was the only station of its kind at this point with real oldies 1690 gone. I still remember the days when WAIT 850 AM would play big band music all day long and when WKKD 95.9 FM had a "Gold" format out of Aurora. What I always ask myself is how do these stations on AM even get by? Independent AM Stations like WJJG, WCFJ, WNWI and so on plus even the Independent LPFM stations like WLUW,WKKC,WHPK will we see that demise soon as well for these historic stations that serve these communities?
