Clear Channel Commits To Nielsen In 18 Markets, Inks 'Partial' Arbitron Renewal
CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO has just announced that it will "remain fully committed" to NIELSEN in the 18 markets, yet has partially renewed its ratings deal with ARBITRON while dropping ARBITRON in seven markets.
In its statmement, CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO clarified its relationshoips with NIELSERN and ARBITRON regarding audience ratings for markets 51 and above. First it announced that Newburgh/Middletown, N.Y.) will begin receiving Nielsen ratings, then added that it has agreed to "a partial renewal" of its currently-expired ARBITRON contract. The company also confirmed it will be going without ARBITRON ratings data in eight markets.
Those markets are: GRAND FORKS, ND, SIOUX CITY, IA, SARASOTA, FL, JACKSON, MS, LIMA, OH, PARKSERBURG, WV, and WILLIAMSPORT, PA.
"CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO remains fully committed to NIELSEN in the 18 markets in which we are currently working with them," the statement asserted. "In addition, based on the outstanding data gained from the first pilot market, we remain interested in expanding our relationship to include additional markets. We will be adding one additional market immediately. The professionalism, commitment to accuracy, and customer support we've received from NIELSEN is matched only by their research quality and ability to deliver an accurate measure of true radio listening. We look forward to a long and mutually productive relationship with them."
