For the last few years, Donny Osmond has been doing the syndicated radio show called "8 Track Playback," which is syndicated by a small group made up of some very talented Chicago radio people. (You can find out more about Donny's "8 Track Playback" at http://donnyonair.com/wp/)
So.. Donny Osmond has an exclusive radio syndication deal with them.
This week, All Access had this to say about Donny's radio future, after they wrote about him winning ABC's "Dancing With The Stars":
Donny Does It Daily?
On the heels of winning "Dancing With the Stars", ALL ACCESS hears that DONNY OSMOND is partnering with MIKE McVAY to launch a five-hour daily AC show. Smoke? Or some fancy footwork?
Mike McVay is apparently doing all he can to steal away Donny Osmond for his syndication company, despite Donny being under an EXCLUSIVE contract with the small Chicago radio group.
I'm hearing that McVay has been trying to bully & intimidate the Chicago people into releasing the contract. Of course he knows full well that he will be sued if attempts to work with Osmond, but he also knows that his pockets are deep, while the Chicago groups' are not. A long legal battle -- even though the law is in their favor -- would cripple the Chicago group financially.
Feeling cocky about stealing away Donny Osmond for his own syndication company, he has thrown up a hastily-designed website, with misspellings, grammatical errors and no demos (because they can't exist yet) at http://www.donnyosmondradioshow.com/Home_Page.html.
This McVay character may not have made any Turkey of the Year lists, but he is certainly in the running for Scumbag of the Year for 2009.
