$1 is not so bad for a newspaper - about five years ago when the content was so great. Paying $1 for the amount of coverage now, while still not a lot of money, is bad on principle, I believe.

Raising the price every year or two for the paper won't solve long-term problems. These papers have got to figure out a way to make real money off their websites. I'm not even sure if that is possible.
