I bring this up because I thought it was cool and because I love and believe in radio.
This morning I was heading North up to Schaumburg on 355/53, which I only do twice a month. Aside from being in New York, I have never heard WBBR, Bloomberg Radio at 1130 in Chicagoland. Just zapping the car radio, there it was - once the historic WNEW, but it was coming through my Ford's speakers.
It brought back nights as a kid of DX'ing, playing games to see how many stations have I never heard but discovered on each particular night. It brought back pulling in WABC, and WBZ and KDKA and WNBC and KOA. Those were the easy ones
I lost Bloomberg when I drove by the 'BBM and 'GN sticks along 53 but this will always remain with this old kid:
We have computers and blue-rays and blue tooths and i-pods and all kinds of electronic wired and wireless devices. Not everyone can afford these things, but Radio always has (unless you were buying those $500.00 consoles in the 30's)been affordable and portable.
Radio will always be magical to me.
