What's the Deal With Fake Name Reporters From Shadow Traffic?

A few days ago I posted about a traffic reporter I disliked.

Anyway, that was then. The discussion gave rise to the question in my thread title: why do the Shadow Traffic reporters use different names on every station?

It's rather insulting to the listener for one thing. Do they think we are so stupid that we don't recognize the voice of the same reporter on different stations using fake names?

I guess I can understand it that the traffic company doesn't want their reporters to build a name for themselves because once an on-air person gets known he can often try to bank on his name. So, if Shadow wants their reporters to basically be anonymous in order to pay them less, I get that as a strategy at least.

But then why not just stop them from using a name at all!? Why not just say "This is Shadow Traffic" or "This is traffic on WBBM," or what have you? Why the fake names?
